Just the bikes that I've worked on...nothing else!

I supported the Babble Ride Across Britain 2024 from Land's End to John O'Groats from the 7th to the 15th September. I was one 17 bike mechanics and drove the entire route as mobile roadside support. 

Customer said the bottom bracket felt a little rough. Further investigation showed a very poorly BB that could not be saved.

A 9 year old boy from the local area had his bike stolen twice from his garden. This bike was his pride and joy. It was found a few weeks later in his local park completely trashed. His family were rightly angered by this but wouldn't be able to afford the repairs. So I offered to fix it for free. This is the before, during and after and the said young man being reunited with his cracking bmx. One very happy owner. 

A bike can make such a difference to a person's life affecting both their physical and mental wellbeing. A random act of kindness can make someone's day, week, month or year. Be kind when you can.

Safe to say the customer hadn't seen this before I took the bike in. It shows that checking the wheel as you go over the bike should include flexing the spokes.
